Utah Utes: Runnin’ to the next game

Jason Washburn

What an amazing… I mean, what a come back… I mean, wow! This whole season there have been games where the potential for the Utes has shown through. Utah fans and bloggers alike jumped at the signs of hope. We also saw the downfall of the Utes. One thing we have seen a lot of this season is close games.

The Utes earlier this season could not close games. But oh how things have changed. The Utes won the game tonight against Cal after being down at the half and down by double digits in the 2nd half. When the Utes got down big I sincerely thought this game was over. I felt the pit in my stomach coming on as I saw the season coming to an end. Then the Utes began to fight.

The momentum began to swing with a Brandon Taylor 3 pt play to stop a 8-0 run by Cal. However, the pit in my stomach was officially gone when Loveridge came to life. After brick after brick, the freshman came through with 2 straight threes to take the Utes truly within striking distance. Dubois hit the 3 to send it to over time and the rest was history.I spent the rest of the game covering my eyes, yelling, jumping and ultimately fist pumping in victory.

It is becoming very hard to not believe in this team as Coach Krystkowiak wrote on his white board to end this game. To be honest, the rest of this tournament is just sugar on top of this season. A season that proved the program is going in the right direction. A program with a young core of players with a high ceiling. A program Ute fans should be behind.
