Real Salt Lake Fatigued
Grant Bagby 08/26/2010Real Salt Lake is on the war path as defending champions. Yesterday they blew a 2 goal lead in Mexico City against Cruz Azul. Jason Kreis said, “It’s not like our team. After we went through a good end of the season last year and won the championship, I feel that we’re a mature team that typically doesn’t make mistakes like that. I’ll have to talk with some of the players, as I think it came down a little to fatigue at the end of the match.”
If fatigue is a factor now RSL will be in some serious trouble. RSL has played 27 games and has 13 games left. Before this last match I had high hopes for Real Salt Lake to do what only two other MLS teams have done in defending the MLS Cup. However, if Kreis doesn’t improve his substitutions to prevent fatigue from taking over this club it will be over before the defense even begins.
