I am not a Utah man, but I’m a female Utah fan. The Running Ute football team had a record setting 6 players drafted in the NFL draft this past week. The school record was previously 5.
Linebacker, Koa Misi was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 2nd round. He will be joining Reciever, Sean Smith (Dancing King/Sugar Bowl teammate) and Defensive End, Paul Soliai both from Utah.
Offensive Lineman Zane Beadles was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2nd round as well.
In the fifth round Defensive Back Robert Johnson was selected by the Tennessee Titans.
Also in the fifth round Receiver, David Reed was selected by the Baltimore Ravens and will join Sugar Bowl teammate, Paul Kruger and former Ute, Kelly Talavou. The Ravens are fans of players out of Utah schools. The Ravens also drafted Dennis Pitta and already have former Cougar John Beck.
One of my favorite players, Stevenson Sylvester, Linebacker, was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will be joining Chris Kemoeatu as well as two former Cougars.
Finally the last Ute of the draft was selected in the seventh round by the Carolina Panthers. He’s known for his speed and his name is RJ Stanford. He will be joining former Utes Jordan Gross and Steve Smith.
Good luck to all the Utes drafted. I hope you make the team and do well in the NFL. Each teams NFL odds will increase their chances to make it to the playoffs because YOU are on their team! Go Utes! Make me proud!
