BYU Cougars vs Washington State
Grant Bagby 08/28/2012Welcome to the BYU edition of Picks of the Week. In the article below you will find what some of our writers expect to see this week in the BYU game. Please tell us what you are expecting in the comments section below.
Chesh: Mike Leach is a fantastic coach, but he is going to need more of a learning curve than his first game, on the road, to successfully instigate his high powered passing attack for his Cougars. Washington State has a stud receiver in Marquess Wilson, but the cupboards are pretty bare anywhere else. BYU’s defense is one of the most underrated in the country. Lead by Kyle Van Noy, look for them to pressure Jeff Tuel and control the field position and turnover battles. BYU wins 33-17.

Andrew: WSU is coming in with a new head coach. I don’t care what name that person is, usually a new head coach needs a couple of games to get settled in to the new team, Mike Leach is no different. WSU should be able to air it out just fine, but BYU’s defense is cohesive, experienced, and up to the task. There is too much consistency on BYU’s side of the ball to think that they would lose to WSU, considering Bronco’s success in season openers, I’d say BYU wins this one by 10 or more.

Robby: Trying not to be biased but I really think wash st. is going to win. It’s obviously the best opening game in the state and will be fun to watch. I think Marquess Wilson for the Washington State cougars is going to have a breakout game and show the nation how good he is. I’m going 34-31 Washington State.
