The Utah Jazz Road Map

dennis-lindsey-jazz (1)

As I sat on my flight from Chicago, Illinois to Jacksonville, Florida; something dawned on me. My son sat next to me, looking at the map printed neatly on the back of a napkin. It was a map of the United States. My son asked 101 Questions about maps but the one that stood out to me the most was: ... Read More »

Ranking All 30 NBA Coaches

Pops-Thibs

Now that the 2013-2014 regular season is over, here’s how I would rank the 30 coaches for the job they did. 1. Gregg Popovich (Spurs) – We keep thinking this aging team will drop off but they never do. 2. Tom Thibideau (Bulls) – The front office gave away Luol Deng, Derrick Rose went out again, and Thibs still coached ... Read More »

RED vs. WHITE Spring Game: What to Watch For

They say time flies when you’re having fun. Well merely 5 weeks ago Utah Spring Camp started and already it is coming to a close.  This Saturday, 4/19, Rice-Eccles Stadium will host the final “practice” of Spring Camp with the annual Red-White Game. Luckily I have been able to attend every Spring practice, but for those that haven’t the Spring Game may be the first and last chance to see the Utes in action before the home opener against Idaho St. on August 28th (Why!? Why must the college football offseason be so long!?). Mind you the Spring Game is designed for the fans, with the Defense being limited in what they can do, but nonetheless here are some things fans may want to watch for during the RED-WHITE game. The Quarterbacks: Always the most exciting and talked about position, the Quarterbacks will again take center stage in the Spring game. The RED team: Travis Wilson and Brandon Cox will lead this team. For many their ... Read More »

Utah State falls short in Logan

Tough loss for the Aggies Utah State was given a chance to show what they were made of Saturday night on the national stage when they faced off against San Diego State on ESPNU. The Aggies were able to keep it close throughout the night and even took the game into overtime on an amazing 3 point basket from Spencer Butterfield. Unfortunately, the Aggies could not come up with an answer for Xavier Thames who scored 10 of his 31 points in overtime and lifted the Aztecs to a 74-69 victory. Star of the night The star of the night is Spencer Butterfield who lead the Aggies in scoring with 19 points and played 40 minutes. Spencer went 8-13 overall and 3-6 beyond the arc. Spencer also had the shot of the night, with just over 2 seconds left in regulation making a three-point basket over two Aztec defenders which carried the game into overtime. On ... Read More »

  • Late Goals – A Life Lesson

Late Goals – A Life Lesson

RSL gave up a late goal and two points in their game against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday. RSL also gave up a late goal in San Jose on March 15th that turned three points into one. Had RSL won both games, they would currently be in first place with fourteen points. As RSL fans, I don’t think we have much to complain about so far, but as I read Twitter and listen to the radio, I see fans who apparently have found plenty to complain about. Most of these complaints are based on warped perception and a penchant to ask what could’ve been. Yes, these draws against Philadelphia and San Jose felt more like losses, but that is the aforementioned warped perception. Now that some time has passed, let’s take a step back and look at these two games. Both games resulted in a road point for RSL, which for me is almost always an acceptable ... Read More »
