The Morning Shootaround – Utah Jazz: Week 19

This week’s games: Tuesday, March 3 – Memphis Grizzlies. FedExForum. 6:00 PM MT Wednesday, March 4 – Boston Celtics. TD Garden. 5:30 PM MT Friday, March 6 – Philadelphia 76ers. Wells Fargo Center. 5:00 PM MT. Sunday, March 8 – Brooklyn Nets. Barclays Center. 4:00 PM. Game of the Week: Utah Jazz vs Memphis Grizzlies Memphis is by far the best team that the Jazz will face this week.  The last time these two teams met, Memphis defeated Utah by ten points in Salt Lake City; however, the last time they played in Tennessee, the Jazz were able to pull off the upset as an early Christmas present to Jazz fans.  With the Utah Jazz finally seeming to be clicking as a team, this will be a great test to see if they can take the momentum of recent quality wins, against the likes of Portland and San Antonio, on the road. Player Focus: Dante Exum I’ve been a huge fan of ... Read More »

BYU Football: BYU vs USU Preview and Prediction

Week 6: BYU vs USU W2W4: Again with the Penatlies: Last season I felt like the thing I wrote about every game was how well (or poorly) the offensive line played. This season it seems I will be writing about how bad BYU is in regards to penalty yards per game. BYU entered the game against Virginia with only 3 teams averaging more penalty yards than the Cougars. They came out of the game tied for last – DEAD LAST – in the country for the most penalty yards per game at 105.5 yards per game. I would even be more frustrated by the penalties this season than the offensive line issues last season but I am not purely because BYU has been winning. The reason I hate penalties so much is that they are 100% preventable. I can live with the fact if BYU gets beat because they aren’t as good as the other team ... Read More »

    MLS Free Agency

The folowing was submitted by Richard Seiger: MLS owners and its players’ union are in the midst of negotiating, hopefully, a new CBA. Players have been very vocal one specific topic: free agency. Players believe they should have the right to choose which team employs their services.  The owners believe they are already competing with the rest of the world for players. Why should they also compete with teams in their own league? The owners aren’t going to concede free agency. Media reports and fan sentiment appears, by and large, to be supporting the players’ perspective. It helps, I’m sure, that many national pundits are former players themselves. There have been tweets from high profile players like Michael Bradley and Omar Gonzalez trumpeting the union’s commitment and unity. Many of the arguments in favor of free agency sound logical and reasonable even. The owners aren’t going to concede free agency. Why would they? Owners are committed to ... Read More »
