Utah Utes Football: Utah vs Idaho State Post Game Analysis and Grades

untitled

I know this post is a few days late but I just recently got back from being out of the country and had my first chance to watch this game last night. Offense: B I give the offense a B because in all reality they really didn’t show much versus ISU. The 2nd and 3rd strings played a majority of ... Read More »

BYU Football: Ugly Win Could Yield Big Results

BYU UConn

Make no bones about it, BYU’s road win Friday night against UConn was ugly. But the train wreck that was 15 penalties for 150 yards could turn into a positive for the Cougars going forward. Here’s why. Beating up on an inferior opponent–and make no mistake, UConn was a vastly inferior team–can mask a team’s weaknesses. That’s why Bronco Mendenhall said after the game ... Read More »

Preview and Prediction: BYU vs UCONN

Football Logo

We are just days away from another season of BYU football. For me, the time has actually gone pretty fast as I am still in awe that we will be viewing our first college football games this week and most importantly, BYU vs UCONN (Friday, 5pm MT). History: BYU football has never faced UCONN but that does not mean that ... Read More »

  • Team USA Hates Utah, America

Team USA hates Utah.  Coach K hates Utah.  Somebody over there hates Utah, that’s for sure. Rumors began to circulate late last night, with news becoming official this morning –  Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard, Chandler Parsons, and Gordon Hayward were cut from the US Basketball men’s national team. That’s right, sharpshooter Kyle Korver, who many regard as the best looking player to ever suit up for the Utah Jazz, didn’t make the team.  Weber State alum Damian Lillard, despite being a former Rookie of the Year and All-Star, didn’t make the team.  Chandler Parsons… okay… well… Gordon Hayward didn’t make the team.  That’s right, Captain America himself didn’t make the team!  How do you cut Captain America?! I mean, DeMar DeRozan made the team.  That guy doesn’t even play basketball in the US (for home games)!  When I heard the news, I was outraged.  I was about ready to send a handwritten letter to my congressman ... • Utah in the NFL Draft

    Utah in the NFL Draft

Just looking to make the team Trevor Reilly of Utah was selected in the 7th round of the NFL Draft on Saturday. Typically when a franchise chooses a prospect in the 6th or 7th round of the draft they aren’t looking for them to be instant impact players. Organizations choose guys with big numbers. What that means is they are looking for players with particular physical traits at a position or a guy that may have blown them away at the combine or pro days. Reilly at 6’5″ 245 has big numbers in terms of his physical stature. Also at his pro day he ran a 4.66 in the 40, 34″ inch vertical, 9-9″ broad jump and at the combine put up 26 reps in the bench press. That 40 time was only a tenth of a second slower than Khalil Mack who was selected 5th overall by the Oakland Raiders. The fact that he was ... Read More »

    RSL Round Up (August 17-23)

“I think the odds are Garth will stay” And the RSL family surely hope so. Dell Loy Hansen replied with that when asked if Garth Lagerway would be back. General Manager Garth Lagerway will be without a contract at the end of the year. The plan early in the season was to play the season out, and see at the end of the year what would happen. Lagerway is the perfect general manager mode. He is a former player, and before coming on with RSL he was a lawyer. He knows how to read and understand a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Lagerway was key to creating the RSL team that won the title in 09 and keeping them contending to today. Lagerway has been known to be asking to be the RSL President at sometime, along with the General Manager duties. Fans have been tense all year about the situation, because of how closely it mirrors last ... Read More »
